Taking the Serious Subject of Wound Care and Making It Fun

Melissa Bailey

Wound care can be a pretty heavy subject for all involved from our corporate team to the healthcare clinicians to the patients and their families. Day to day, we are reminded of the serious work we do, but sometimes everyone needs and enjoys some friendly competition. Halloween was the perfect excuse for Wound Care Advantage to hold a pumpkin decorating contest amongst our wound centers.

Participating centers became pretty competitive and even requested an extended deadline to finish their masterpieces. After reviewing the wounded behinds of pumpkins dressed in jeans and patient gowns, a non-biased panel at our corporate office was heavily amused while judging the submissions.

Our friends at Clovis Community’s Center for Wound Healing took home 1st place with their submission “Patient Pumpkin Butts” pictured above.

In a close second place was USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Wound Care with a very realistic wounded patient. The winning wound center will be sent a prize and hold bragging rights until next fall.

A special thank you to all of the wound centers that participated.
